About the Role
Our Natural Areas and Open Spaces team is currently seeking to appoint a Horticultural Labourer (Turf and Open Spaces) to join our team and contribute to the operational maintenance of turf and open space at The Australian Botanic Garden.
Showcasing approximately 4000 species of Australian native plants, the Australian Botanic Garden is part of the Royal Botanic Garden and Domain Trust and home to the Australian PlantBank and The National Herbarium of New South Wales, both major scientific research and conservation centres for the flora of NSW.
About You
What we are looking for
- Relevant experience in the development, maintenance of turf displays, maintenance and regeneration of horticultural and natural areas and construction and maintenance of landscape areas.
- Experience in the use and maintenance of relevant turf, horticultural and landscape machinery and equipment such as ride on mowers, tractors, etc.
- Sound knowledge and demonstrated capacity to implement work health and safety policy and practices.
- Someone that is self-motivated and can work within a team.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of turf, horticultural and landscape areas in accordance with BG policies and procedures.

Essential Requirements
- Sound knowledge and demonstrated capacity to implement occupational health and safety policy and practices.
- Current driver’s licence with the ability to drive manual vehicles
- Has the ability to lift and carry a minimum 15 kilos.
- Ability to work outside of normal working hours and on weekends if required.
- MR Licence (desirable)
- AQF III Pesticide Application Licence (desirable)
- Traffic Controller Certification (desirable)
