Position: Maintenance Zone Leader 

Area of Work: City of Whittlesea (West)  Zones 1-4, Epping, Vic

Hours: Full-time – Multiple positions commencing Mid- January 

Grow with us; We are looking for 4 x Zone leaders to work hand in hand with our Maintenance Coordinator – Horticulture as part of our 16+ dedicated horticulture crew for our City of Whittlesea Open Space Contract. With the long-term contract to commence in April 1st 2025 (10 years) we are looking for hands on seasoned leaders or those looking to take the next step into a leadership position. 

These positions will be based out of our brand-new depot in Epping.  Together with your crew you will ensure your allocated zone assets always exceed specification standards; your crew works efficiently and has safety front of mind at all times. 

Our ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail to ensure our allocated Open Space assets thrive and flourish year-round, you will be enthusiastic about having a variety of responsibilities, such as mentoring, training and inducting staff onsite, coordinating works and ensuring our equipment is well maintained! You Must also be comfortable with using technology and apps to understand work location, area and to close out each asset on completion.  

Key Responsibilities

As a Maintenance Zone Leader you will be responsible for (but not limited to):

• Assess each site, identify and communicate key tasks for staff to work on daily.
• Manage minor preventative maintenance of vehicles, plant and equipment as required.
• Maintaining adequate quality control to ensure no rework is required.
• Lead and mentor your crew.
• Liaise with traffic and traffic management personnel.
• Ensure a daily toolbox meeting takes place prior to commencing work on site.
• Ensure safe operation of plant and equipment by staff at all times
• Ensure staff are working efficiently and understand your crew is representing both the company and the client at all times.
• Report any safety or personnel issues to the Maintenance Coordinator. 

Requirements

To be successful in this position, candidates must have:

• Proven experience as a Team Leader with a solid understanding of equipment and preventative maintenance.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Certificate III or above in Horticulture.
• Permanent Australian work rights – essential; visa sponsorship for this position is not offered at this time.
• White Card (Construction Induction Card) – essential.
• Valid Victorian Driver’s License (P Plate or Full License) – essential.
• HR, LR or MR Truck Licence – desired, but not mandatory.
• Traffic Management Certificate – desired, but not mandatory.
• First Aid Certificate – desired, but not mandatory.
• A positive attitude, great work standards, and easy-going personality to work as part of a team – essential.
