  • Location – Blue Mountains Botanic Garden – Mount Tomah.
  • Salary relative to experience and ranges from $78,260 to $86,539 + super

 

The role
In this role, based in the beautiful and iconic Mount Tomah Botanic Garden, you’ll be leading a team to manage and maintain the horticultural functions across the estates, ensuring the living collections and garden areas are expertly cared for. Your day-to-day will involve supervising maintenance, coordinating with other horticultural staff, and providing technical advice on landscape development. You’ll also be instrumental in staff development, fostering a culture of kindness and passion for horticulture, where everyone works safely and efficiently.

One of the main challenges you’ll face is balancing the demands of maintaining high horticultural standards in a busy public environment. You’ll need to effectively manage resources, coach your team, and adapt to the changing needs of the estates while keeping everything running smoothly. What you will bring to the role

  • Horticultural Expertise: You’ll have a deep understanding of horticulture, with a keen eye for detail that meets the high standards expected in a botanic garden.
  • Team Leadership: You’re a natural people person with proven experience leading teams, fostering a culture of kindness, and helping your team thrive.
  • Physical Capability: You’re ready and able to undertake fieldwork, including working outside normal hours if needed, and can comfortably lift and carry up to 15 kilos.
  • Technical Skills: You’re skilled in maintaining and using a wide range of horticultural equipment, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
  • Operational Experience: You bring hands-on experience in the coordination, maintenance, and development of large parks or gardens, keeping them in top shape.

 


What is an essential requirement:

  • Horticultural trades certificate or equivalent experience and technical knowledge in horticulture and maintenance techniques.
